                                                                         GAME IDEAS

I want to thank those seminary teachers who have given me permission to share ideas that they have incorporated with "Sing the Scriptures!" mastery music CDs.

Please remember to inquire about a free gift for your classroom if I should decide to post your ideas on this site.  It is my way of saying," thank you" for your contribution.  -Jennifer Wilson

Scripture Reference

While the introduction of this song is playing, the class has a race to see who can shout out the scripture reference first before the singing begins. This race works well with the Old and New Testament CDs because there is no scripture reference recorded before each song.  I kind of like it that way because it gives the class a chance to memorize the scripture reference for each scripture mastery song.

Scripture Puzzles

Teacher prep: teacher decides how many groups of students there will be to play this game and then selects the same scripture for all groups, makes copies for each group then cuts them into pieces to make a puzzle. While the scripture song is playing, the students race to see which group can complete the puzzle first before the song ends.

Pause It

Play a scripture and pause it to see if students can fill in the rest of the words.

Scripture Karaoke

Play a scripture song and have the class sing along with the words several times. Then turn on the "Sing the Scriptures!" Karaoke CD, (this CD does not include the main vocal track.), and let students performed the scripture in front of the class as a solo or as a group.

Using Props
Using props for songs can really help the students get into the scriptures to understand their meaning.  This can be a very spiritual experience when using the CDs, because music gets right to the heart.  One example would be to pass around lamb's wool (or something that feels like lambs wool), and have each student take turns stroking it as the song plays. (see Isaiah 1:18).

Ward Dinners and Other Activities
Students can write short skits around the scripture mastery songs and either lip sync to the music or use the karaoke CDs.  One teacher wrote to me and told me that her students had a blast doing this, and they never forgot that night, nor the scriptures they performed!
